Gettin' Crafty!

I don't know about you but my class loves to do projects. A lot of it is in the way that you present it too. If you're excited, they're excited. That's a good lesson to be carried out through the entire school year too!

Here are just some of the things we've done throughout the year.

March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb! We made these cute lamb/lion masks for March.

The scarecrows were done at the very beginning of the year for back to school night (yes, they ended up staying up until Thanksgiving :-/)
We did this craft in October when learning about the letter "Ss". The body is made out of paper plates and the legs are strips of paper. Googly eyes can be substituted for the paper eyes instead.

Simple winter holiday crafts.

Dream mobiles for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Adorable hibernating bear craft.

Classic Abraham Lincoln craft! Pretzel sticks and milk cartons! To make this a little more interesting the kids drew the setting of the log cabin. Some even included Abe!

Simple little shamrock craft. Made for a cute decoration and the kids loved it.

This was done in a 1st grade class when I was in college. The class got to make their own Dr. Seuss character and write a short rhyme or silly sentence to go along with their character.

This craft was used during our heritage unit. More about that in future posts. You can also use weaving when teaching the letter "Qq"

These flowers were made out of students hand prints, straws, a shoe box and the Styrofoam that goes inside planters.
